KNOXVILLE — A teen about 14 years of age was shot at least once in the torso this afternoon on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near Austin-East High School, according to Knoxville police.

Knox County Schools spokeswoman Melissa Copelan referred questions about the shooting to the Knoxville Police Department.

The victim was being treated at University of Tennessee Medical Center for "fairly serious" injuries, according to KPD spokesman Darrell DeBusk.
