Chattanooga Lookouts down 2-0 in series

The Chattanooga Lookouts have been good this season at AT&T Field.

They're going to need to be great.

The host Jackson Generals belted 15 hits Friday night to defeat Chattanooga 7-3 and take a two games to none lead in their Southern League best-of-five divisional series, which moves to AT&T for tonight's game three. The Lookouts have lost nine consecutive playoff games since being eliminated by the Tennessee Smokies in the 2004 divisional series.

Friday's game was tied at 2 entering the sixth inning when Jackson's Stefen Romero led off with a single to left field and Mike Zunino followed with a home run to left. Zunino had homered to left in the fourth inning as well off starting pitcher Zach Lee, who was pulled in the sixth after allowing four runs on eight hits.

Zunino was the top draft pick of the Seattle Mariners in June. Lee was the first pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2010.

"The second time I was able to get a breaking ball he left up a little bit," Zunino said. "I sort of knew what he had. He's got great stuff."

Romero and Chih-Hsien Chiang had RBI singles in the seventh inning to put the Generals up 6-2.

The Lookouts took their only lead of the series at 2-1 in the third inning when C.J. Retherford had a leadoff single to center and Rafael Ynoa hit a one-out homer to left. Nick Buss and Jake Lemmerman each was 2-for-4 for Chattanooga.

Chris Reed (0-4, 4.84 ERA) is scheduled to start tonight's 7:15 matchup for the Lookouts, with Taijuan Walker (7-10, 4.69) scheduled for the Generals.
