Although the first week of September was hotter and rainier than usual, this week will be dry and sunny, according to the National Weather Service.
In the last few days, temperatures in Chattanooga averaged almost 3 degrees hotter than typical, with a high of 93 degrees Friday.
But starting today, temperatures will drop, said Kate Guillet, meteorologist with the National Weather Service at Morristown, Tenn.
"Basically, all week we are going to have drier and cooler air filtering in," she said. "It's going to be a nice week."
Highs will range in the low 80s, while lows will swing down to the upper 50s, she said.
Northern Georgia also will enjoy a stretch of good weather, said Mike Leary, meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Peachtree, Ga.
"It's going to be beautiful," he said. "We're not expecting any additional rain until about Saturday."
In fact, the week's humidity will be very low, Channel 3 meteorologist David Karnes said.
"It will be two-pronged nice weather," he said. "We'll have lower-than-usual temperatures and low humidity."
He encouraged locals to get outside and soak up the sun.
"This is the first real taste of cooler weather we've had," he said, "and a great chance to get out and enjoy what Chattanooga has to offer."
