Lori Hogan speaks to caregivers Thursday

Area caregivers are invited to a free event Thursday night designed to provide encouragement for the job of caring for older adults. The program will be held at Ridgedale Baptist Church, 1831 Hickory Valley Road, at 6:30 p.m.

Lori Hogan, author of "Strength for the Moment" and co-founder of Home Instead Senior Care, will be the featured speaker. Hogan will share her story and encourage others to tell theirs.

Hogan's caregiving experience started early, growing up with a brother who had special needs, and later caring for grandparents and raising four children. In 1994, she and her husband, Paul, founded Home Instead Senior Care.

More than 65 million Americans are caregivers for elderly parents and relatives, according to information from Home Instead Senior Care.
