A Hamilton County Jury today found Myles Stout guilty of reckless homicide and reckless endangerment in connection with the death of Myles Compton in a March 9, 2011, shooting. A sentencing hearing will be held Nov. 5.
Stout, 21, was charged with second-degree murder and reckless endangerment in the shooting death of Compton at 9125 Stoney Mountain Drive.
Throughout the five-day trial, Stout’s attorneys, Hank Hill and Mike Little, attempted to show that their client did not know the .40 caliber Sig Sauer handgun was loaded.
But from their opening statements, prosecutors Lance Pope and David Schmidt brought witnesses who said that the gun and another handgun had been cleared before Stout handled them.
Yet no witness ever testified to seeing Stout load either weapon before he pushed the .40 caliber pistol’s muzzle into Compton’s chest and fired.
