Five new downtown businesses will celebrate their grand opening Sept. 21.
Go Bagel, Tasty Daylight Donuts, O.C. Buckles & Co. department store, Sewn to the Sky gift shop and Iron Labs video game company will host a block party at their 800 Chestnut St. location from 4 to 9 p.m.
Iron Labs and Sewn to the Sky are already open for business, and the other three are scheduled to open by Friday.
Each of the businesses came to the area as part of River City Company’s “Project: PopUp,” a program that provides the retailers with six months free rent, facade grants, marketing and professional development help. Project: PopUp leaders hope that help will give the businesses time to establish themselves and inspire owners to stay in what would otherwise be empty retail space.
