Bennett Archive: Jobs

about Clay Bennett...

The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

The Book of Mormon is "pure bosh;" I've read it. Even atheists (Isaac Asimov) agree that the Bible has something to do with ancient Jewish history, but "Mormon" has nothing at all to do with ancient American history. Mr Romney may be a credit to his religion (or not), but his religion is no nore credit to him than President Obama's jobless rate is to him.

I,m also going back to yerterdays post. I,m amazed at mtngrl,al,dude anothers on this site.

Obama was a pot smoking cocanine user and a drinker. He was a radical activist and he identified with marxist professors, His SS# is questionable since he nor his parents never lived in the state of conn. When he got his he lived in hawaii so the number should have reflected that. His draft card is also questionable since it reflects a number not used at the time he would have gotten his and not from the area. But all this is OK with you liberals.

Now Mitt has never been a drug user nor a drinker and because he is republican you claim he is a war-monger then you go all giddy about seeing him holding a sign that says Speak up don't sit in.Many of you were either to young or not even born in the 60s to really have any idea as to what that could have meant. There were a lot of sit-ins and he is holding a sign saying not to . If you want to make a statement Speak Up don't sit in.

How many of you liberals have signed up to protect our rights? How about you Easy,Al ,Dude, and the rest of you? If you can't walk the walk keep your mouth shut. Those of you that keep talking about warmongering are hypocrites getting giddy about this picture.

Fed Move Will Help Wall Street, Not Main Street

It's official. The Federal Reserve has looked at the economic data and flipped out. Whatever rhetoric the Obama campaign is peddling about the economy improving isn't being bought by the Fed governors in charge of America's monetary policy. Their prescription? They want us to borrow and spend more and, perhaps, save a lot less. Their moves will help the balance sheets of Wall Street banks and investment houses, but do little to arrest the problems in the economy…….

The Fed's move will boost the stock market and pad the bottom-lines of Wall Street banks. But, it won't trickle down to Main Street. Americans, facing bleak, long-term economic insecurity, aren't going to jack up debt to fuel more spending. Businesses aren't going to ramp up investment until they have a handle on their future costs. The dollar will go down, gold, energy and commodity prices will move up.

But, what the Fed move really tells us is that Obama's economic policies aren't working. In fact, they are the opposite of not working. They are working against economic recovery. The Fed is trying to counter-balance that, but it won't work. The only thing that will work is a change in leadership come November. That is in your hands.

Ben Stein's Diary End Times By Ben Stein on 9.14.12 @ 6:09AM

There is that feeling in the air.

“Thursday Strange day.

I awakened to a text from a close friend who is a devout Christian and who was so angry at the elite media that she could not sleep. "I am so frikkin' sick of the media telling us that Islam is a 'religion of peace,'" she said. "Look, people make fun of Jesus all of the time and I mean ALL of the time and we don't kill them or harm them. But do anything at all that offends any Muslim and they start killing Christians and Jews -- and then Obama apologizes for it. How long can this go on? The times of Tribulation are at hand."………………………………………………………..

…….............Well, enough of that. It is time for a quiet dinner listening to the lake and the trains. For now, it is paradise. The time of tribulation has not yet come for us all, and God bless that brave Ambassador, Christopher Stevens, who was murdered and had his body dragged through the streets by people we put in power. God help us when Judgment Day comes.”

Are we electing a president or a church vector? Who has the right approach to creating more jobs? Who is more likely to select the most capable and qualified as their cabinet? Who is more likely to surround themselves with advisers that will enable them to help more people do well and right the economy? Who can best work with congress to reconcile differences and get important legislation passed?

The answer is it doesn't matter. Most people are afraid to change anything or try something different and new. The vast majority will not think about these questions but will respond to what journalist, the media and some special interest tell them to. The majority will go with the best slogans, mantra and promises that influence their vote whether doable or not. Party loyalist will seek blogs, articles, opinions etc. that support theirs and work their butt off trying to convince others of how right their party is.

Hmmm. Seems the terms of Nakoula's probation included not using aliases and staying off the internet. Could be interesting.

Many records in case remain sealed, but prosecutors sought a longer prison term and noted that he misused some of his own relatives' identities to open 600 fraudulent credit accounts. Nakoula apologized during the proceedings and his attorney James D. Henderson Sr. said Nakoula had learned his lesson.

"He's clearly gotten the message," Henderson said. "I can't imagine him doing anything stupider than what he did here, but what's done is done."

Henderson said during the hearing that his client had been enlisted by another man to open the accounts and had only received $60,000 to $70,000 from the fraudulent transactions.

The probation order authorized in June 2010 warned Nakoula against using false identities. Nakoula was told not to "use, for any purpose or in any manner, any name other than his/her true legal name or names without the prior written approval of the Probation Officer."

“While the Obama administration says there was no "actionable intelligence" foreshadowing the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya, there were at least four attacks on diplomatic and western targets in Benghazi leading up to the murder of the U.S. ambassador.

“This (the U.S. Consulate) was a place that was targeted months before with an IED (improvised explosive device)," Rep. Mike Rogers, chairman of the House intelligence committee who has been briefed on the attack and investigation, told Fox News. “It's clearly a target that they wanted to hit and they wanted to cause casualties. ... DUBAI (Reuters) - The Yemen-based branch of al Qaeda urged Muslims to step up protests and kill more U.S. diplomats in Muslim countries after a U.S.-made film mocking the Prophet Mohammad which it said was another chapter in the "crusader wars" against Islam. "Whoever comes across America's ambassadors or emissaries should follow the example of Omar al-Mukhtar's descendants (Libyans), who killed the American ambassador," the group said, referring to Tuesday's attack on the U.S. consulate in the Libyan city of Benghazi.

I say we just need to open further dialogue with them. Plenty of room here for compromise.

As long as Americans keep purchasing imported products, which means produced or assembled in any location outside the U.S., the American economy will not make meaningful progress and people will not improve their average wages.

Increased services jobs are not wealth creating and will not make a significant difference in GDP growth. Adding government jobs are the worst for having no meaningful impact on improving the economy. Adding 16,000 IRS agents for Obama care will reduce unemployment by that many people but may cause that many to lose employment in the private sector.

Neither damn candidate seems to know how to increase manufacturing jobs in the U.S. that produce products Americans will buy. Have either of them ever uttered the words Americans should buy American made products. The availability of American made is shrinking. I would bet very few, if any posting here drive a car made in the U.S. by a U.S. company or, a phone, TV, microwave, light bulbs or any electronic item produced in the U.S. Do you buy tires made in the U.S. by a U.S. manufacturer? Profits of a foreign owned company making products in the U.S. go back to that country. So, you drive a VW made locally....whoopee do for you I guess that is better than an auto brand with none U.S.produced.

A company like this is not likely to participate in the recovery. I am totally in the market plus some gold and commodities and will be until closer to the election when I will go to between 50-80% cash until I see the results in congress. Who is POTUS actually makes little difference.

It may be selfish but I have no problem with a stalemate that causes all tax reductions to end 1/1/13 and the mandatory spending reductions kick in with increased debt levels not being approved. Grid lock is not all bad.

The sign he was holding is not the problem. The fact that he was pro-draft is a big problem, and a very personal one to me.

I lost two uncles in that damned conflict, who were forced against their will to take up arms to fight in a war that people still do not understand why this nation was involved in.

"Many of you were either to young or not even born in the 60s to really have any idea as to what that could have meant. There were a lot of sit-ins and he is holding a sign saying not to . If you want to make a statement Speak Up don't sit in."

Your spin regarding Romney's sign is quite ludicrous. I suppose you think that he was against the war on that day too, just more vocal about it, right?

"How many of you liberals have signed up to protect our rights?"

Romneyy was not defending any rights on that day. He was defending a University President who was assisting the Government to decide which college students were eligible for the Draft.

"How about you Easy,Al ,Dude, and the rest of you? If you can't walk the walk keep your mouth shut."

If you defend the man on this, I only have two words for you, which I'm sure you can figure out for yourself.

"Those of you that keep talking about warmongering are hypocrites getting giddy about this picture."

Giddy? Sir, I am disgusted.

mymy disagrees with you. JonRoss disagrees with you. The head troll disagrees with you. They don't make any distinction whatsoever. Any Muslim is a terrorist in their eyes.

If you do realize that there is a difference, then I commend you, but you've made a few comments that give me pause to think that you are not being genuine in your new-found fairness.

"BTW, how many suicide bombers have you had over to dinner?"

My...if that isn't the silliest question ever posed in this forum, I don't know what could possibly top it.

Perhaps you would like to re-phrase it?

You're quite off-base to write off Joe Biden as someone who is confused.

The fact is that there are not many people up in Washington more experienced in areas such as foreign relations, justice, and the pursuit of drug cartels. The man has a 39 year record in Washington D.C.

Biden's problem is that he is not a great at giving speeches. He speaks off the cuff sometimes and his words do not always come out right, but that in no manner suggests that he is a bit dumb.

Next month, when he stands on a stage with Paul Ryan, pay attention. Biden always shines during debates. Paul Ryan is going to have his hands full against Joe Biden, mark my word.

Breaking news for conservatives,, In a speech to the Values Voter Summit on Saturday, former presidential candidate Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) marked out the media and “smart people” as permanent enemies of the Republican Party, according to BuzzFeed.

“We will never have the media on our side, ever, in this country,” he said. “We will never have the elite, smart people on our side.”

Alpo: Muslims are allowed to kill women for cheating. (war on woman)

Muslims kill homosexuals legally. (war on gays)

Muslims cut the hands off of people who steal.

Muslims kill their own children if they date someone who isn't Muslim. (war on tolerance)

So for you to sit and bash republicans and Christians alike is insane considering you give a pass to Islam.

And I'll add that Muslims are pussies if they can't handle a grainy video that is anti-Muslim. At least Christians never posted videos of cutting the heads off of Muslims.
