A 22-year-old man arrived at Parkridge East Hospital about 8:14 p.m. Wednesday after being shot in the back of the head.
Chattanooga police responded to a report of shots fired at 6317 Walden Ave. about 8 p.m. Early reports indicated that a white SUV with several bullet holes was found at the scene.
Neighbors reported hearingabout six shots.
Earlier in the day, as many as 15 people had an altercation a couple blocks away, neighbors said. It's unclear if that altercation is related to the shooting.
The man was taken to Erlanger hospital and is in critical condition, police said. His name is not being released.
No suspect information is available, dispatchers said.
