UTC takes third in women's golf

SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. - The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's golf team finished third with a 901 total Tuesday in the 15-team Wild Eggs Cardinal Cup tournament hosted by the University of Louisville.

Juniors Marion Duvernay and Jordan Britt shot 72 and 73 in the final round as the Mocs moved up two spots, Duvernay winding up fourth individually at 3-over-par 219 and Britt sharing 14th place at 224.

Freshman Emily McLennan tied for 21st at 227 and Mette Kryger added a 232 for UTC, while Porsche Campbell competed as an individual and tied for 33rd at 230. Louisville with an 896 total won by one stroke over Missouri.

Lee men win tourney

At St. Simons Island, Ga., Lee University won the 16-team Coastal Georgia College Invitational men's tournament Tuesday at the Sea Island Retreat Course.

Flames freshman Taylor Davis shot a 2-under-par 70 on a rainy, windy day for a 54-hole 219. Teammates Matt Emery, Hunter Vest and JB Eksteen finished at 222, 224 and 225 and the Flames' 884 beat the host school by three strokes. Tyler Smith added a 228.

Roise holds lead

At Oak Ridge, Tenn., Jean Roise of Crossville maintains a five-shot lead after Tuesday's play was rained out in the 34th annual Tennessee Women's Senior Amateur Championship at Oak Ridge Country Club.

Roise shot a 1-over-par 73 in Monday's rainy round and led by five over Niota's Margot Oliver with defending champion Georgia McCravey of Chattanooga, eight-time champion Maggie Scott of Charleston and Knoxville's Sharon Kelly another shot back and Cleveland's Linda Mullins at 80.

Signal Mountain's Debbie Durham was tied for eighth at 82, and Vonore's Vicki Whitmore is 12th at 84. Anne Parkhill of Vonore is tied for 15th at 87.
