Happy Valley Road bridges opening Friday in Walker County

Two new Walker County, Ga., bridges on Happy Valley Road over Chattanooga Creek and the Chattanooga Creek overflow have been completed and will be open to traffic Friday, weather permitting.

The project also included improvements to the intersection of Happy Valley Road and State Route 193, according to a news release. The new traffic signal at the intersection will be placed on flash mode on Friday and turned onto full operation on Wednesday.

The contract for the project was awarded to Talley Construction Co. of Rossville in late December 2010. Work on the bridge began early May 2011, with an official completion date of Sept. 30.

The project cost $2,576,193, records show.
