2 men hurt, one seriously, in ATV crash

Two men were hurt - one seriously - this morning when the ATV they were riding hit mailboxes and a wall then flipped over, authorities say.

The driver, Benjamin Bowman, 25, of Soddy-Daisy was airlifted to Erlanger hospital with serious injuries, Hamilton County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Janice Atkinson said in a news release.

Passenger Brandon Dodson, 20, suffered minor injuries, she said.

Neither party was wearing helmets, she said.

About midnight Thursday, the sheriff's office received a call to the 1600 block of Montlake Road. When deputies arrived, they learned that the ATV being ridden by the two men was coming off Poe Road and trying to make a lefthand turn onto Montlake Road. Bowman lost control and they struck several mailboxes and a rock retaining wall before flipping, Atkinson said.
