Man convicted in killing of flight attendant

MARIETTA, Ga. — A jury has found a Georgia man guilty of killing a flight attendant in Cobb County in 1995.

Waseem Daker was convicted Friday of killing 30-year-old Karmen Smith and stabbing her 5-year-old son, who survived.

WSB-TV reports that prosecutors said that DNA evidence tied Daker to the crime. Daker called the evidence flawed and said it pointed to another assailant, not him.

Smith’s son, Nickolas, described the attack to the jury during testimony earlier in the week. He said the assailant was wearing dark clothes, a mask and gloves. He did not see enough to identify the assailant.
