CHARLESTON, S.C. — The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga got going offensively and defensively in the second quarter tonight at Johnson Hagood Stadium and leads No. 15-ranked Citadel 14-3 at the half.
After The Citadel took a 3-0 lead early in the game, and held the Mocs to 16 first-half yards, UTC’s offense came alive in the second quarter. Terrell Robinson hit Ron Moore for a 13-yard touchdown to put UTC up 7-3 and Jacob Huesman hit Faysal Shafaat for a 1-yard score in the closing seconds of the half to make it 14-3.
The Mocs had an excellent chance to get on the scoreboard late in the period after wide receiver Ron Moore came off the edge and blocked a Cass Couey punt. UTC recovered at the Bulldog 28-yard line but went backward from there. Nick Pollard missed a 52-yard field goal attempt that would have tied the game.
UTC had 151 yards of offense in the second quarter, while the Bulldogs had just 18 after gaining 122 in the first.
