MEMPHIS, Tenn. - An off-duty Memphis police officer has been placed on leave after being charged with three counts of aggravated assault involving juveniles.

Memphis Police spokeswoman Karen Rudolph says 55-year-old Margaret Taylor threatened the trio after a verbal confrontation with them at about 7:30 p.m. CDT Saturday. Rudolph says the juveniles told investigators Taylor showed them a handgun and said she would harm them.

Rudolph says during the confrontation, Taylor also slapped a 13-year-old boy. Rudolph says the other two juveniles, a 10-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy, were unhurt.

Taylor was hired with the Memphis Police Department February 2001.
