Mental health conference at UTC on Saturday

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's Get Healthy Project is hosting "Exploring the Mental and Physical Health Needs of the Severe and Persistent Mental Illness Population in an Integrated Care Setting" on Saturday, April 6.

The conference will begin in the UTC University Center at 7:30 a.m. and conclude at 2 p.m. Cost of the conference is $25, which includes breakfast and lunch.

Participants may register for one of two lecture tracks: Integrated Healthcare or Mental Health First Aid.

The first will give tips on how to effectively manage administrative challenges in the implementation of an integrated healthcare model.

The Mental Health First Aid lecture will cover how to identify mental-health needs and give first-aid tips for caregivers to help a person in a crisis.

The conference will feature speakers from Yale School of Medicine, Hogg Foundation for Mental Health and BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee.

The conference is designed for mental-health professionals, administrators, clinicians and primary caregivers.

The UTC Division of Continuing Education has approved the conference for 5.5 contact hours and 0.55 credit hours. CEU credits are $10.
