Georgia woman indicted in daughter's starvation death

SMYRNA, Ga. - Cobb County District Attorney's officials say a Smyrna woman has been indicted for allegedly starving her teenage daughter to death.

District Attorney's spokeswoman Kimberly Isaza says 36-year-old Ebony Espree Berry's 16-year-old daughter, Markea, weighed 43 pounds when she died in June 2012 at the family's home.

Berry is charged with murder, felony murder and two counts of child cruelty.

If convicted, Isaza says Berry faces a maximum of life in prison plus 20 years. Berry is being held in the county jail on $75,000 bond.

A call to Berry's court-appointed attorney was not answered.
