A documentary whose filmmakers are hoping to spark a revolution one theater at a time will be screened in Dalton, Ga., on Monday, April 8.

"Girl Rising" is about the 66 million girls around the globe who dream of going to school and how the power of education can improve the world.

Actors including Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Liam Neeson, Cate Blanchett and Selena Gomez narrate portions of the film. The individual profiles highlight girls such as Sokha, an orphan who rises from the dumps of Cambodia to become a star student and an accomplished dancer; Suma, who composes music to help her endure forced servitude in Nepal and now crusades to free others; and Ruksana, an Indian "pavement dweller" whose father sacrifices his own basic needs for his daughter's dreams.

The Dalton screening will start at 7:30 p.m. at the Carmike 12, 2170 E. Walnut Ave. Register to attend at http://gathr.us/screening/2301.
