Southeast Georgia man accused in attack on neighbor's pig jailed

SPRINGFIELD, Ga. - A southeast Georgia man is in jail after authorities say he unleashed his dogs on a neighbor's pet pig and then stabbed the animal 15 to 20 times with a knife.

Effingham County Sheriff's Office spokesman David Ehsanipoor says Benjamin Fullwood was charged Wednesday with felony cruelty to animals and obstruction of justice.

Ehsanipoor said the pig got out of its owner's yard and wandered into a mobile home park. Residents were trying to get in touch with the owner.

Ehsanipoor says Fullwood unleashed his two pit bulls on the pig and then began stabbing the pig himself in front of a group of bystanders including children.

Fullwood was in jail and a bond hearing was set for today. The pig was in serious condition at a vet's office.
