NASHVILLE - Consideration of a bill that would open the way for whiskey distilleries in Chattanooga was delayed today in the Tennessee House of Representatives.
Bill sponsor Rep. Joe Carr, R-Lacassas, "rolled," or moved, the bill's final consideration until Wednesday.
The bill would expand a 2009 law that excluded Hamilton County and allows whiskey distilleries in areas that have approved liquor by the drink and package store sales of liquor.
Chattanooga Whiskey Co. backs the bill, which would let the company distill whiskey in Chattanooga for the first time since Prohibition.
