A Morrison, Tenn., man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a woman whose body was found last month at the Summitville Cave in Coffee County, Tenn.

In a news release, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Coffee County Sheriff's Office say the suspect is Jimmy Byron Jones Jr., 51.

He was arrested Thursday night in the death of 58-year-old Connie Lou Godsey Brown.

On March 9, 2013, Brown's burnt body was found at the Summitville Cave, located between Summitville Road and Fire Tower Road in Coffee County, the release stated.

The autopsy revealed that Brown died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Investigators learned that Jones was present at the crime scene on two different occasions for several hours through an electronically monitored GPS device he wore for a prior offense.

He is a convicted sex offender who is currently on probation.

The release said Jones and Brown didn't know each other but he has confessed to the slaying.

Jones was booked into the Coffee County Jail on $2 million bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 22, 2013 at 9:00a.m.
