It was a rough day for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga softball team Saturday, as the Lady Mocs dropped the first two games of their Southern Conference series at College of Charleston.

UTC had 2-0 leads in both games before falling 3-2 and 12-2. The Cougars (23-16, 10-6) outhit the Lady Mocs 23-10 in the doubleheader.

RBI hits by Sarah Beth Roberts and Stephanie Rieck in the fourth inning of game one gave the Lady Mocs (23-19, 8-6) a lead, but the Cougars tied the score on a two-run single by Allison Pedigo in the fifth and won when UTC pitcher Taylor Deason walked Pedigo with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh.

In the second game, Roberts' two-run home run gave the Lady Mocs the lead, but a six-run fifth inning and a five-run sixth for Charleston ended the game early.
