Jennifer Williams takes GPS basketball reins

GPS has named Jennifer Williams as its new head basketball coach. Williams, who has coached the Bruisers' middle school team and previously was an assistant with the high school varsity, takes over for Susan Crownover, who stepped down recently to concentrate on coaching softball.

"We feel like it's a perfect fit for us because Jennifer is someone who is already on campus and knows the girls and the program," GPS athletic director Stacey Hill said.

Williams, a former athlete at Red Bank and the University of Kentucky, also has been an assistant with the volleyball program. Before coming to GPS, she was Soddy-Daisy's head volleyball coach and assisted with the softball program.

"I stepped away for a while to spend more time with my kids, but I'm excited about being back in coaching again now," said Williams, whose daughter Reagan will be a junior on the GPS basketball team. "We've got a lot of good potential here and I coached them in middle school, so I know what they can do."
