LifeKraze sets high-five record

LifeKraze founder Ben Wagoner set a high-five record this week, running six miles to deliver a high-five to a single person, while communications director Jonathan Yagel broke the record for high-fives in one minute by delivering 257 high-fives to a group in Engel Stadium. "We actually have doubled both of those records," Yagel said.

The record-setting hand slaps were part of the National High-Five Day celebration, on which LifeKraze itself was set to surpass 1 million high-fives online, similar to likes on Facebook. The 40,000-member service, which is based in Chattanooga, uses high-fives as a way to let members encourage each other. LifeKraze recently signed up the North Face and Prana to offer discounts to members for their real-life accomplishments.

Sports Barn joins with CrossFit

The Sports Barn, Chattanooga's 24-year-old health and fitness club, has partnered with CrossFit Hixson to open a 3,000-square-foot training facility within the Hixson Sportsbarn on Hamill Road. Although many traditional fitness businesses consider CrossFit boxes to be direct competition, Sports Barn managing partner David Brock said he sees the market differently. "We are like-minded businesses," he said. "Making CrossFit available to our members is a win-win."
