Chattanooga police: Pedestrians struck by car; 1 killed, 1 hurt

One person was killed and another hurt when they were struck by a car while crossing Bailey Avenue late Friday night, Chattanooga police said.

A car driven by Margaret Givens, 68, was traveling east in the 2100 block about 11:30 p.m. The vehicle hit Andrew Svgdik, 19, and Kelsey Butler, age not reported.

Svgdik was killed. Butler was in stable condition at Erlanger hospital, the police news release stated.

The investigation continues, and charges may be filed, police said.
