Reaction to a Sunday Free Press editorial about "Cleveland For a No Kill City," a volunteer-based effort to adopt shelter animals in Cleveland, Tenn.

A group of about 10 of us started this. There is no excuse for groups of people everywhere to not do the same.

— Jessica Sun

Shelters and rescues often are community Dumpsters for unwanted pets, and there really is no excuse for that. It's great that someone stepped up and did something positive about an increasing problem. ... Donate, adopt, spay and neuter, and be responsible pet owners. That would keep 90 percent of animals out of shelters.

— Jennifer Kilgore

Love all the hard work these people do! My Silas would not be alive and happy today if it wasn't for this group!

— Kayla Clay

I heart this group! They have done such an amazing and wonderful thing!

— Amanda Mason

I would rather keep an animal alive that has done no wrong than a human who kills and rapes ... and hurts children. Kill them!

— Gina Boyer

Spay and neuter your pets.

— Sarah Wilson
