See Rock City names president
Susan P. Harris, the former director of human resources and organizational development for See Rock City Inc., has been promoted to president of the Lookout Mountain attraction. She replaces Andrew Kean, who left Rock City to serve as the chief operating officer for the city under Mayor Andy Berke. Frank Davis, previously office administrator for the law firm of Miller & Martin in Chattanooga, has been hired to replace Harris in her previous role.
"Susan is the logical successor and perfect choice," said Bill Chapin, Rock City's chief executive officer. "She's worked side by side with Andrew Kean, former president, as he reorganized our company."
Cornerstone boosts profits
The parent company of Cornerstone Bank reported a 26.8 percent gain in first quarter profits over a year ago. Cornerstone Bancshares Inc. on Wednesday reported net income in the first quarter of $452,000 as loans grew 3.7 percent, transactional deposits jumped 35.7 percent and nonaccruing loans fell by 41.1 percent.
"The fact that we had marked improvement in earnings, in what is the shortest and typically weakest quarter of the year, is further testament that Cornerstone is on the right track and heading in the right direction," said Frank Hughes, CEO of the $430 million-asset bank.
Ryan joins GigTank 2013
Daniel Ryan, the director of front-end development for President Barack Obama's 2012 election campaign, is joining Chattanooga's CoLab as technologist-in-residence for GigTank 2013. Ryan will work daily with entrepreneurs selected to participate in this summer's GigTank 2013 competition, assisting with Web development needs and large-scale web applications for EPBs gigabit-per-second Internet service. At the Obama campaign, Ryan oversaw the development of online tools that helped raise $690 million in online contributions for the president and recruited hundreds of thousands of volunteers who worked to register more than 1 million new voters.
"GigTank provides an avenue to push boundaries and to make Chattanooga an example for other cities," Ryan said.
