Call for artists for Civil War-themed show - Aug. 16

The 6th Cavalry Museum has issued a call for artists for the upcoming “Lives and Lands of the Civil War” art exhibition. To be displayed Sept. 3-Oct. 26, the exhibition will depict local artists’ interpretation of the people, architecture and landscapes of the American Civil War.

The registration deadline is Aug. 16. Registration fee is $25.

All types of art are accepted, including 2-D and 3-D works, photography, fiber arts and sculpture. Works will be displayed at the museum in Fort Oglethorpe.

The exhibition will coincide with other events marking the 150th anniversary of the war. These include a weekend of programs Sept. 14-15 at Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park and a battle re-enactment Sept. 21-22 at McLemore’s Cove in Chickamauga.

Local artist and instructor Durinda Cheek is chairing the show.
