Chattanooga police planning Citizens Academy

The Chattanooga Police Department is inviting citizens to learn more about the justice system with its Citizens' Police Academy.

The eight-week course starts Sept. 5 and covers topics ranging from narcotics to patrol to the SWAT team.

Those interested in signing up should contact Officer Wayne Jefferson at 423-643-5090, or email him at jefferson_wa@chattanooga.gov. Approximately 25 seats are available for the next class.

All applications must be returned to the Office of Community Outreach by Aug. 20.
