Bledsoe County, Tenn., escapee on Tennessee's 10 most wanted list

NASHVILLE - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has put an escapee from an East Tennessee prison on the state's Top Ten Most Wanted list.

Jeffrey Lynn Carter, Jr., also known as "Bubba," 31, is wanted for escape in Bledsoe County by the Tennessee Department of Correction. On Sunday, Carter was working on a Tricor dairy farm when he left the work detail at about 7 p.m. CDT .

Carter jumped from a tractor he was driving and ran into a wooded aread. He was serving a 21-year sentence at the Bledsoe County Correctional Complex for convictions in Davidson County for aggravated robbery and attempted aggravated robbery.

Carter is described as a white male with brown hair and blue eyes. He is 5 foot 8 inches tall, weighs about 165 pounds and has numerous tattoos on his arms and trunk. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans, a white ball cap and green boots. He is a convicted felon and has a criminal history that dates back to 1996 which includes aggravated assault, theft, robbery, burglary, vehicle theft, vandalism, reckless endangerment, drug charges, escape, evading arrest and resisting arrest.

Law enforcement is aware that Carter has family and associates in Madison, Nashville, Ashland City and Gallatin and last lived in Millersville. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Jeffrey Lynn Carter Jr. is urged to call the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND (1-800-824-3463). There is a $1,000 reward for information leading to his capture.
