Maybe Pam Tillis hasn't shown up on the country music charts like she did in her heyday in the 1980s and '90s, but she's staying plenty busy.

In July, she released a duets album, "Dos Divas," with fellow country artist Lorrie Morgan, and Friday she was onstage with Carrie Underwood in Oregon. Over the next few months, she resumes her Grits & Glamour tour with Morgan, performs with the Pam Tillis Acoustic Trio, joins her famous father, Mel Tillis, for a Christmas concert in Mississippi and throws in a few solo shows for good measure.

On Friday, Aug. 23, she'll settle in for "An Acoustic Evening With Pam Tillis" at the Cumberland County Playhouse in Crossville, Tenn.

A child of Music City royalty, Tillis rebelled as a would-be rock musician early in her career before getting back to her roots. Her first country album, "Put Yourself in My Place," spawned the hit single "Don't Tell Me What To Do" and perhaps helped her face the inevitable.

The Country Music Association would crown her the 1994 Female Vocalist of the Year, and induction into the Grand Ole Opry would follow in 2000.

Tillis has written songs for some of the top singers in and beyond Nashville, including more than a few of her own hits. She broke the platinum barrier in record sales and landed 19 singles in the Top 20, including "Maybe It Was Memphis," "Shake the Sugar Tree," "Cleopatra, Queen of Denial" and the No. 1 hit "Mi Vida Loca (My Crazy Life)."

Her most recent releases have been 2002's "It's All Relative: Tillis Sings Tillis," in which she performs songs co-written by her and/or her father; 2007's "RhineStoned," her first project on her own label; and 2013's "Dos Divas," which cemented a singing partnership she'd had with Morgan since 2009.
