Georgia man hits police with car, crashes in ditch

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Police say a man accused of hitting two police officers with a car has been charged with attempted murder.

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan police spokesman Julian Miller says 26-year-old Sean Andrew Joint was a passenger in a car that was in a minor accident Wednesday night. Police say a friend came to help Joint and he jumped in their car and drove away.

Miller says Joint turned the car around and charged at two officers. Police say they're unsure of Joint's motive.

Miller says the vehicle landed in a watery ditch on Hunter Army Airfield property.

Police pulled Joint from the sinking car and Chatham County jail records show he's being held without bond. It's unclear if he has an attorney.

One officer was treated for minor injuries and another is hospitalized.
