No one was injured in a house fire around 8:30 this morning at 1850 Newell Avenue.

A passerby called 911, saying flames were shooting through the windows and that someone might still be inside, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Fire Department.

Captain Carlos Hampton said in a news release that firefighters searched the house three times, but did not find anyone inside.

The firefighters got the fire under control in roughly 20 minutes, according to the release.

Also, McKamey Animal Center removed a pit bull that was in the yard until the owner could be located.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
