I-24 to have just 1 lane open at Murfreesboro

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Interstate 24 will be reduced to one lane eastbound this weekend for repairs to a bridge in Murfreesboro.

An oversize load damaged the Epps Mill Road bridge at exit 89 in February.

Eastbound travel will be reduced to a single lane at 8 p.m. CDT today through 6 a.m. Monday.

Workers will attach a steel plate to a beam under the bridge to strengthen it.

TDOT will use portable message boards to alert drivers of the expected travel delays.

TDOT doesn't expect additional closures beyond this weekend at the repair site.
