MARIETTA, Ga. - A Cobb County couple has been arrested after authorities found two children living in a filthy home filled with roaches, trash and animal droppings.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Carlton and Sharon Hightower of Power Springs were arrested Thursday in Cobb County juvenile court.

Jail records show they face two counts each of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Sharon Hightower was also charged with first degree cruelty to children.

An arrest warrant says the couple allowed a 14-month-old and a 9-year-old to live in a home in terrible conditions, and the baby had blistering and severe diaper rash.

Jail records show Carlton Hightower was released Friday on $15,000 bond, and Sharon Hightower was released early Saturday on $20,000 bond. It was not immediately clear if they had lawyers.
