Investment bank UBS adding 1,000 jobs in Nashville

Associated Press

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Investment bank UBS says it is adding 1,000 jobs in Nashville to create a back office support hub.

Gov. Bill Haslam announced today that the Swiss bank is investing more than $36 million in the city and adding the new jobs over the next five years.

UBS already employs more than 200 people in two Nashville locations, providing operations support and wealth management services.

Kathleen Lynch, the chief operating officer of UBS Group Americas and Wealth Management Americas, said the bank is still evaluating its options on where the new nerve center will be located. She said the new facility will consolidate functions performed elsewhere.

Lynch declined to say what the new jobs will pay, but Nashville Mayor Karl Dean said salaries will be above the city's average.
