Atlanta airport reports increase in holiday travel

ATLANTA - Atlanta's airport is reporting an increase in passenger traffic during the Thanksgiving weekend, saying more than 1.8 million people passed through between Nov. 25 and Dec. 2.

That marks a 5.6 percent increase over the year before at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the world's busiest.

Airport General Manager Louis Miller says the travel season went smoothly and noted the Atlanta airport saw an increase despite a decline in air travel nationally.

Airport officials say Monday was the busiest travel day with more than 282,000 passengers passing through.
