Special engagements by two comedians also known for their acting roles coincide this week.
Tonight, Dec. 5, Pauly Shore will return for a single show at The Comedy Catch, 3224 Brainerd Road.
Friday, Dec. 6, Jim Breuer will present two shows at Vaudeville Cafe, 138 Market St.
* At The Comedy Catch: In addition to his stand-up work, Shore is known for such films as “Son-in-Law,” “Encino Man” and “Pauly Shore Is Dead” as well as TV’s “Entourage” and “Minding the Store.” His show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25.
Also scheduled this weekend are Steve Mingolla on Friday, Dec. 6 ($14), and Sunday, Dec. 8 ($9), and James Gregory on Saturday, Dec. 7 ($25).

Comedian Matt Baetz will perform at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7.
Sunday, Dec. 8, offers an all-ages Chattanooga CARES fundraiser at 6 p.m. with a $10 admission for adults and children ages 3 and up (plus donations of cash, nonperishable food or children’s toys are requested) and an adults-only after-party with comedy, drinks and dancing at 8 p.m. for $3.
