Hamilton County Clerk & Master Lee Akers to retire

Hamilton County Clerk & Master Lee Akers said he will retire at the end of his current term, which ends late next year.

Akers said Wednesday he would leave office Sept. 8, 2014.

In April, the sitting chancellors, who appoint the $103,795-a-year clerk & master post, will begin accepting applications. Interviews are expected in May.

W. Frank Brown and Jeffery Atherton are the sitting chancellors.
