Santa Pub Crawl - Dec. 14

Thursday, December 12, 2013

photo Nearly 1,000 people participated in last year's Santa Pub Crawl by dressing in their finest holiday attire and donating a new, unwrapped toy to The Salvation Army.

What may be Chattanooga's merriest toy drive, the Santa Pub Crawl, celebrates its fifth anniversary on Saturday, Dec. 14, with an added event. The Run Run Rudolph 5K will get you up early; the pub crawl could keep you out late.

Begun in 2009, the Santa Pub Crawl not only supports The Salvation Army Angel Tree with toy donations but gives local restaurants additional patronage. Pub crawlers visit one or more places for special deals on dinner and drinks. They're easily recognizable because they're all wearing Santa suits or similar seasonal garb.

The crawl begins at 6 p.m. at Big River Grille and includes stops at Mellow Mushroom, Sing It or Wing It, Raw Sushi Bar, Northshore Grill, BrewHaus, Hill City Pizza and The Flying Squirrel.

More information is available on the crawl's Facebook page.

The Run Run Rudolph was added this year to give families a chance to take part. Participants may walk or run the route, which starts and ends at Coolidge Park, 200 River St.

Kids under 12 can participate for free; others pay $30. All are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate. Registration starts at 7 a.m., and the race at 8 a.m. Register online at www.runrun5k.com.
