The Metropolitan Opera will present Verdi's "Falstaff" in The Met: Live in HD series at two Chattanooga movie theaters Saturday, Dec. 14, at 12:55 p.m. An encore presentation will follow at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18.

An undisputed master of the work, Music Director James Levine conducts the opera for the first time at the Met since 2005. Robert Carsen's production - the first new Met "Falstaff" since 1964 - is set in the English countryside in the mid-20th century. The three-act comedy was adapted from Shakespeare's plays "The Merry Wives of Windsor" and scenes from "Henry IV."

Ambrogio Maestri sings the title role of the blustery Sir John Falstaff opposite an ensemble that includes Angela Meade, Stephanie Blythe, Lisette Oropesa and Franco Vassallo.

It will be sung in Italian with English subtitles. Its length is about 3 hours and 20 minutes.

It will be presented at East Ridge 18 and Hamilton Place 10-17.
