Georgia man sentenced to life in fatal armed robbery

ATLANTA - Fulton County prosecutors say a man has been sentenced to two life prison terms in the deaths of two men he robbed and shot in an Atlanta townhome.

District Attorney's spokeswoman Yvette Jones says 24-year-old Derrick Burden was convicted Friday in the slayings of 21-year-old Samuel Blizzard and 26-year-old Calvin Streater.

Jones says Streater was visiting from North Carolina to celebrate Black Gay Pride weekend in September 2010 when he met Burden at a local store. Jones says Burden visited the townhome where Streater was staying and later returned to rob him.

Jones says Blizzard was forced to kneel before he was shot in the back of his head. Jones says Blizzard was temporarily living with his cousin, who returned home later to find both men dead.
