KNOXVILLE - Knox County authorities are investigating a “road rage” incident that started this afternoon when an SUV driver cut off two motorcyclists near Knoxville Center mall and ended with one of the riders shot multiple times in a Northeast Knox County neighborhood.

About 3:45 p.m. authorities were called to the 2700 block of Mary Emily Lane. They found two men with motorcycles, one of whom had been shot, according to witnesses. The victim was taken to University of Tennessee Medical Center.

It appears the incident started with a traffic confrontation that had occurred moments beforehand.
