A miniature Habitat house, complete with holiday decorations, has been unveiled inside Enzo’s Market to help Habitat for Humanity.
The 6-foot by 6-foot playhouse, designed and built by Habitat’s construction department, went on display Dec. 7 during MainX24 festivities. Proceeds raised during a monthlong Help Build It Campaign will be used to build an energy-efficient home for a family of five on 14th Street on Chattanooga’s Southside.
David Butler, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga, says the partnership with Enzo’s will not only help “expand the opportunity for homeownership to a deserving family” but show that “every little bit of goodness can help change the world.”
Through Jan. 5, community residents can stop by Enzo’s Market, 1501 Long St., to make a donation to the Help Build It Campaign. Donations can be placed in the mail slot of the illuminated holiday house in the store’s lobby, or they can be mailed to Habitat for Humanity, 1201 E. Main Street, Chattanooga, TN 37408.
“We hope that the community will stop by the Habitat display and consider using it as a backdrop for their holiday photos,” says Dominique Brandt, Habitat’s director of volunteers and special events.
“Sharing some goodness with Habitat” through donations to the Help Build It Campaign, Brandt says, will help ensure that “next year a very deserving family can be in their own home for the holidays.”
