ATLANTA - Federal prosecutors say a husband and wife who ran a drug trafficking and money laundering operation from a metro Atlanta barbeque restaurant have been sentenced to federal prison, along with their accountant and others.
Officials say 47-year-old Jiles Johnson of Sandy Springs pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess and distribute cocaine and money laundering. He's been sentenced to 15 years. His 46-year-old wife, Shannon, was sentenced to three years for money laundering. The couple's accountant, 57-year-old Matthew Ware, was sentenced to six years for money laundering.
Prosecutors say Jiles Johnson was also a commercial truck driver and supplemented the couple's restaurant income by delivering Mexican cocaine to several cities.
Officials say Ware helped the couple launder the money. More than a dozen others were also charged in the ring.
