North Birmingham girl hospitalized after shooting

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Police say a 5-year-old north Birmingham girl is recovering from a gunshot wound after someone fired shots into the house she was in.

Birmingham Police Det. Rodney Rogers told AL.com the girl was taken to Children's of Alabama after the shooting Tuesday night. Police spokesman Johnny Williams says the girl is in critical condition.

A man who identified himself as one of the girl's relatives said they were listening to music when shots were fired.

Rogers says police don't have leads on any suspects and it's unclear who the intended target of the gunfire was.
