Tennessee man rescues motorist before car bursts into flames

COLUMBIA, Tenn. - Authorities are praising a Tennessee man who rescued an unconscious motorist before his wrecked car burst into flames.

The Daily Herald reports that Ahren Longo was on his way to West Nashville on Tuesday morning when he came upon an auto accident near the Bethel community in Maury County.

Fire officials say that Longo pulled the man out of the car, which had hit a tree and was about to catch fire. The victim was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Maury County Fire Chief Eric Hileman credited Longo for saving the man's life.

Longo said he had received fire and medical training before he left the Navy more than seven years ago.
