The man found dead near Interstate 40 in Roane County on Christmas has been identified as 42-year-old Brian William Taylor of Heath Springs, S.C.

Taylor was found early Wednesday morning after Tennessee Highway Patrol dispatchers received a call around 2:30 a.m. That a man was lying near the interstate's eastbound lanes. He had either fallen from a vehicle or been thrown from one and had been struck by another vehicle at some point.

Authorities are still investigating how Taylor wound up on the side of the road, including the possibility of foul play, according to a THP news release.
