ROANE COUNTY, Tenn. - A man in his 40s was found dead Christmas morning on the side of Interstate 40 in Roane County.
Tennessee Highway Patrol dispatchers received a call about 2:30 a.m. on Christmas that a man was lying on the side of the road.
A Tennessee Highway Patrol news release stated that initial evidence suggests the man, whose identity still was unknown Wednesday afternoon, "either jumped or fell from a moving vehicle and his body was then struck by at least one other vehicle."
No vehicles were found in the vicinity of the body.
The body was taken to the medical examiner's office, and identification is pending.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol asked that anyone with information about the incident call its Knoxville headquarters at 865-594-5800.

Calhoun County Coroner Pat Brown said Korbyn Stitts, of Piedmont, died of smoke inhalation in a fire over the weekend. Fire Marshal Edward Paulk said further tests will help officials determine the cause of the blaze.
Investigators said the homeowner and her four grandchildren were inside the house when the fire broke out. The woman said the flames spread quickly and prevented her from reaching the child.
Fire Chief Mike Ledbetter said parts of the house still are standing, although most of it was damaged by heat or smoke
A funeral has been scheduled Saturday at Thankful Baptist Church
COLUMBIA, Tenn. - Authorities are praising a Tennessee man who rescued an unconscious motorist before his wrecked car burst into flames.
The Daily Herald reported that Ahren Longo was on his way to West Nashville on Tuesday morning when he came upon an auto accident near the Bethel community in Maury County.
Fire officials said Longo pulled the man out of the car, which had hit a tree and was about to catch fire. The victim was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
Longo said he had received fire and medical training before he left the Navy more than seven years ago.
CONYERS, Ga. - A photographer, a police organization and neighbors have teamed up to make a Christmas wish come true for a metro Atlanta boy who was diagnosed with leukemia.
Brandy Moon, of Conyers, told WSB-TV her 10-year-old son, Dylan Rosier, has been undergoing chemotherapy for 14 months and told Santa that for Christmas, he'd like a cure for cancer. Moon said Dylan told him that if a cure wasn't possible, he'd love to see snow on Christmas
The photographer overheard the conversation and launched a website to make it happen.
Supporters, including the Henry County Fraternal Order of Police, used 4,000 pounds of ice and a snowmaking machine to turn the boy's backyard into a winter wonderland on Christmas morning.
