A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Saturday night in Dalton, Ga., police said.

Dalton police spokesman Bruce Frazier said it happened on U.S. Highway 41 near the Oyster Pub shortly after 7 p.m. Traffic investigators shut down the highway at Tibbs Road for about 25 minutes.

Frazier said the victime was taken to Hamilton Medical Center and was conscious and alert.

No information was provided on how the victim came to be hit or who was driving the vehicle.
