Fifteen local athletes have been chosen on the Tennessee Sports Writers Association all-state volleyball teams. Baylor, which was state runner-up in Division II-AA, heads the list with three selections. They are setter Haven Bethune and hitters Rachel Ford and Gabby Gray. GPS has two DII selections in hitter Olivia Berger and libero Kelby Crownover. State-tournament team Boyd-Buchanan has two on the Class A team in libero Katie DeLay and setter Kristen Reynolds. Sale Creek hitter Megan Storey also made the Class A team. Local Class AA selections are hitters Stephanie Bouchard from Notre Dame, Tiffani Estep from Central and Taelor Kellum from Signal Mountain and Red Bank setter Abby Graham. Three hitters were chosen in Class AAA. They are Ooltewah's Courtlyn Ison, East Hamilton's Emma Lenoir and Bradley Central's Brooke Copeland, who was picked despite missing a good portion of the season recovering from elbow surgery.

Golf

• Tennessee Tech men's golf coach Polk Brown recently announced the signing last month of Chattanooga's Alexander Riddle for his program. The Notre Dame High School senior's commitment to the Golden Eagles had been reported previously. "Alexander is going to be an outstanding addition to our team," Brown said in a TTU website posting. "He is a very dedicated player and hard worker. I look forward to seeing him contribute to our squad immediately." Riddle helped the Irish win the 2011 Class A/AA state tournament and was the state runner-up by one stroke in 2012. He finished fifth this year in his second season as team captain. "Not only is Alexander an excellent golfer, but he is a team leader and a mentor to younger golfers," Notre Dame coach Jeff Fisher said in the Tech release. Said Riddle: "I really like what Coach Brown is doing with the program, and I can't wait to get there and contribute to the team."

Basketball

• The Campbellsville University women's basketball team dropped shorthanded Hiwassee to 2-9 this season with a 117-30 blowout victory Sunday afternoon at a neutral site in Nashville. Seven Campbellsville players scored in double-figures with Lindey Young and Macie Spence leading the attack with 12 points each. Campbellsville played all 14 players and everyone scored in the rout. Halei Lequire had 10 points and six rebounds for Hiwassee.
